Luke 3:16 “John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:”

My gift to your Dad which will be engraved with 3-10-13!
Kids, there are moments, some unforgettable and some you'll want to forget, that are a result of a choice you make in life. This is one of those unforgettable moments for us as a family. Last Fall your Dad started talking about getting baptized. At that time, he decided he would wait for Ethan to be ready because he thought it would be cool for the 2 of you to do that together. Over the past month or so, the Holy Spirit began to stir in your Dad's heart and when I say stir I mean it seemed like an F5 tornado had formed overnight. It was time for him to make that next step in his faith. As cool as it would be for you two to get baptized together it wasn't in God's plan. A few "Gasaway Family Rules" I want to leave you with:
- LOVE GOD - Your relationship with God will be the most important and fulfilling relationship you'll ever have.
- PRAY OFTEN - You don't always have to have something "important" to say to talk to God and know you can ask the Holy Spirit to pray for you when you don't have the words.
- ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH - You'll find life is so much easier when you have nothing to hide.
- USE KIND WORDS - This is where you have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. He LOVES everyone the same.
- HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH - You're a child of God and you will never be able to do anything that will change that just as you are my children and nothing will ever change that either. You have free will to make choices to leave God and his divine protection but know all you have to do is pray for God to forgive you and wrap a hedge of protection around you and know it will be done because HE paid for it all on the cross.
- PUT OTHERS FIRST - I was raised to give the shirt off your back to anyone who may, or may not, need it. I expect you to do the same.
- SAY "I LOVE YOU" OFTEN - If you feel it . . . .say it! It's not hard! I wear my heart on my sleeve and you might as well to. It doesn't make me weak but it does let others know how my I love them.
- BE THANKFUL - I can't stress this enough. Be thankful you have food to eat, a bed to sleep in, cloths to wear and parents who would move the earth for you. Be thankful for all you have even when you don't have much!
- SHOW RESPECT - Your Dad and I were both raised to respect our elders and respect others. We expect this from you. How you act in the world is a direct reflection of us as parents. It's your decision if you want the world to see you have parents who love you enough to teach you right from wrong or if you want the world to see we failed. That is up to you and you alone! We can't and won't be every where you are!
- FORGIVE EASILY - I pray God always gives you the Grace to forgive others. It's hard sometimes, times when you felt you did nothing wrong, but it doesn't matter whose fault it is. Jesus died on the cross of our sins, sins He didn't commit, so the least we can do for all His children is have a forgiving heart. I already see this in both of you. I pray you both continue to be people of integrity!
- ALWAYS SHARE - I mean it! It's all God's anyway! Share what He gives you with the world. I can speak from experience my children . . . .YOU CANNOT OUTGIVE GOD BECAUSE HE WON'T LET YOU!!!!
I hope you kiddos refer back to this if you ever see dark days or find yourself in a situation your not sure how you got there and how to get out of. Always know God is with you, you can't run and you can't hide from HIM or my love!
LHK Always, MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
