Addison's First Day At School

Addison had her first day of school/daycare yesterday. I did a lot better than I thought I would. I wouldn't say it was easier leaving her there being the second child but I did have more peace of mind knowing who she was with. She has the same caregiver that Ethan did when he was a baby. We love our daycare and everyone there. I only had to call once yesterday morning because after lunch Ms. Beverly called me to tell me that she had checked on Addy for me and that she was doing great. I thought that was very nice of her to take the time to think of me and do that. They all just love Ethan to pieces there and I know Addy is going to steal their hearts too! Ethan is thrilled that sissy goes to school with him now. This morning he wanted to stay in Addy's room with Ms. Nita but his Daddy made him go to his own classroom. I miss the ever frequent diaper changes, bottle feedings, and Coo-ing sessions but most of all I miss that sweet baby girl laying on chest and taking her naps during the day. I am ready for the weekend so I can have 2 full days at home with them. LH&K Always!

Brent's Photography

I just found this post still in edit mode. I'm so silly sometimes :) Cousin Brent did a pretty good job taking pictures of us a couple of weeks ago. If you can't see it on my face, I love you both more than I ever thought possible and then some. I am the luckiest girl in the world! LH&K Forever!!!!!!

What A Weekend

Why is it when you get a bunch of boys together the word"FART' becomes the most hilarious word in the English language??

"Linus" with his blankie

Uncle Jason and Aunt Val eating was so funny I had to get their picture. They have been on a strict diet for 2 weeks and this was their first time to splurge. Uncle Jason even tried eating the whole bone :)
Addy has this habit of trying to eat her whole fist. She is creating a problem for me since all the slobbering around her mouth is creating a bit of chapped skin. I work tirelessly kepping her little face moisturized. This weekend was the first time Ethan actually called someone we didn't know and started talking. He was pushing buttons on my phone and the next thing Val and I heard was someone talking on the other side. OOPPS!!!!!
It doens't matter where we are at, Ethan and Papa always sit by one another to eat. I'm not sure who has to sit by who more, you both insist on being together. I love watching my parents with my kids. They have not allowed more than 2 weeks to go by without seeing Ethan since he was born. My children are a top priority in their lives and I am so grateful and thankful.

These are various pictures from the weekend at my parents house in HS. Jason, Val and Brent came up and the guys worked on the lake front getting it ready the water to come back up on Hamilton. Your Papa has already found a pedal boat he is going to buy you guys to have this summer. It is going to be so fun watching Ethan learn how to use it. Saturday night we cooked steaks and played Wii. I won the first game bowling and your Daddy won the second game. Cousin Brent was so good helping Ethan learn to bowl. Uncle Adam and Aunt Denise were suppose to come in town but they got tied up with their jobs and were not able to. We miss them very much and look forward to seeing them this coming weekend. LH&K Always!!!!

Big Things Going On

The last few days I had left on maternity leave were spent running all over town. Wednesday we had Addy's 2 month checkup. She weighed 11lbs, is 23.5 inches long and got 3 shots, YIKES. This was my first Ped visit with either of my children where they received shots. I have always made Bryan come with us since I don't have the heart to hold them down for the nurse. We did just fine by ourselves (minus all the crying she and I did holding her afterwards). Thursday we attended a 20th anniversary party at my office for one of my dear friends/co-workers with both kids in tow. I love watching how much my peeps at work love on my kids (you guys are like family and I love you dearly). Then Friday morning, Addy went with me to the hair salon and she got to mingle with her future hair dresser. After our morning hair appt, we went to Target where mommy findly found her "party" hat for the boat this summer. Addy thought bubba needed a new fishing game for the bathtub. He saw it in the car when we picked him up from school so we had to let him play with it when we got home (for an hour in the bathtub I might add). It gave me a lot of time to takes lots of pictures to get some of Addy smiling and Ethan being his usual goofy self. My love for you both goes far beyond the earth and sky!!! LH&K Always!

A Brother's Love

I tried putting her down more yesterday since I only have a few days left before I have to return to work and Addy has to go to daycare for the first time. Making her learn how to self soothe and be content being by herself isn't easy if her big brother is around. As you can see, when she would get upset and start to cry he would run to her and try making her swing go even higher or stop it all together to give her a kiss and put her paci back in her mouth. He was his usual protective self and it continued through the evening into time for her to eat. He had to do that too! She is such a lucky little girl to have a loving, protective big brother. I know from experience, I have two of them :) LH&K Always!

The Art of Hibernating

I cannot describe how wonderful it feels when my children fall asleep in my arms. It doens't matter how big or small they are, they fit PERFECTLY!Ethan woke up Friday morning with a fever so I called and got him in to see the Peds that afternoon. Low and behold, he had a sinus infection and his tubes had fallen out. They couldn't find either one and he didn't have an ear infection, YEAH! SO, our weekend consisted mostly of hibernating at home so he could rest and heal. Ethan got up super early on Saturday morning so I got some awesome Mommy time. I cuddled him up in his bed, turned Nemo on and we both fell back asleep. There is no better way to start my day than with one, or both, of my babies cuddled up next me! Ethan asked all weekend to go see his Nana and Papa so we went to Hot Springs after Church. Thank You Nana for cooking us a big pot of homemade soup for dinner. LH&K Always!

Play With Me Nanny

We stayed with my parents in Hot Springs Saturday night and came home late Sunday evening. Ethan gets so excited when we head out to go see his Papa and Nana! It is so neat to see how your parents interact with your children. Mom and Dad are both so great about getting in the floor and playing with Ethan. Addy is a little small so she gets held most of the time. When you have a child and walk in the room of friends and family, you immediately get pushed to the back burner and your kids get all the spotlight. Well, this practice couldn't have been more obvious at dinner Sunday evening. My Dad had sat down by me to begin with. When we got the kids settled and he realized that Ethan was not sitting right next to him, he grabbed his tea and moved to the other end of the table so he could sit on the other side of Ethan. I had to comment out loud something sassy, as usual, but I thought it was very touching to see how much my children are loved and how much my parents really want to be with them all the time. LH&K Always!

Sunday Night Football

We tried to take a few pictures of us together in front of our fireplace last Sunday. I thought I would share a few. I feel Laurie's pain. Ethan is at the same stage as Bella. He wants to make funny faces everytime you ask him to smile for a picture. He is definitely becoming more animated. LH&K Always!

Friday Night "Rides"

I can't believe the weather in January. It was so nice outside and we were finally able to let Ethan ride his new "motorcycle" (yes, he has been riding inside). Ethan is such a good boy, he kept saying he shouldn't be in the street. I kept reminding him it is okay to be in the street as long as mommy and daddy were with him. As usual, Addy decided to stay up most of the day and conk out around 5ish so she could party all night long. I'm not sure how I am going to apologize to Mrs. Nita, Addy's teacher when she starts daycare, because she is going to have a total mess on her hands. This was the first time she slept on her own from start to finish, I know..I know! Addy and I are working very diligently for her to be able to swing or bounce on her own without me there to physically hold her hand. LH&K Always!

Prayers For Our Beautiful Daughter

We went for an ultrasound at Children's Hospital this week and and found out that Addy has a form of hip dysplasia. We have to double diaper until our next appointment on February 9th at the Orthopedic Unit at Children's which will result in another ultrasound being done. We will find out then what is next to ensure her problem gets fully corrected. She is nothing less than perfect and we are asking for all the prayers we can get for a full, healthy recovery as soon as possible for Ms. Sassy Britches. From what I have understood so far, her condition is completely correctable so that is great news. It is very common in breech females (C-Section babies). As we left ACH on Wednesday I got a little chocked up and became overwhelmed with lifting "Thank You's" up to our good Lord above as we were strolling out of that hospital with such a healthy child. Alot of the parents there were not as fortunate as us that day. We are very thankful for the two beautiful, perfect and healthy babies God has blessed us with. We will keep you all posted as we get information. OUR GOD IS GOOD, ALWAYS!!!!! LH&K!

2008 In Review - Life Is But A Vapor

"Life is but a vapor" really rings true when you have children. Where has the time gone? At least we have these few, along with thousands of others, to remember some of the great moments we have had with you both. LH&K Always!
